What if time isn’t as straightforward as we think?

We’re all familiar with the 12-hour clock. But imagine replacing the twelve with just nine numbers. A clock in which 3, 6, and 9 come together in a special way. At first glance, it seems like just another way to represent time… but behind these numbers lies a remarkable pattern.

And that’s exactly where the story of Nikola Tesla begins.

Tesla was fascinated by numbers, patterns, vibrations, and the hidden structure of nature. The numbers 3, 6, and 9, in particular, later became strongly associated with his name. A famous quote is even attributed to him:

“If you knew the greatness of 3, 6, and 9, you would hold the key to the universe.”

Whether Tesla actually said this has never been conclusively proven. Still, the idea is fascinating.

Just look at the clock.

The numbers seem to move through a certain cycle over and over again, while 3, 6, and especially 9 behave differently. As if they aren’t quite part of the same cycle.

And perhaps that’s exactly why the clock is so intriguing.

Time moves in a circle. Numbers move in patterns. And perhaps we see those patterns every day, without ever wondering what’s really behind them.

Was Tesla simply fascinated by mathematical patterns?

Or did he see something in these numbers that we still don’t fully understand?

Wat als tijd niet zo vanzelfsprekend is als we denken?

We kennen allemaal de klok met twaalf uren. Maar stel je voor dat je de twaalf vervangt door slechts negen cijfers. Een klok waarin 3, 6 en 9 op een bijzondere manier samenkomen. Op het eerste gezicht lijkt het gewoon een andere manier om tijd weer te geven… maar achter deze cijfers zit een merkwaardig patroon.

En precies daar begint het verhaal van Nikola Tesla.

Tesla was gefascineerd door getallen, patronen, trillingen en de verborgen structuur van de natuur. Vooral de cijfers 3, 6 en 9 zijn later sterk met zijn naam verbonden geraakt. Er wordt zelfs een beroemde uitspraak aan hem toegeschreven:

"Als je de grootsheid van 3, 6 en 9 zou kennen, zou je de sleutel tot het universum hebben."

Of Tesla dit daadwerkelijk heeft gezegd, is nooit overtuigend bewezen. Toch is het idee fascinerend.

Want kijk naar de klok.

De cijfers lijken zich steeds opnieuw door een bepaalde cyclus te bewegen, terwijl 3, 6 en vooral 9 zich anders gedragen. Alsof ze niet helemaal onderdeel zijn van dezelfde kringloop.

En misschien is dat precies waarom de klok zo intrigerend wordt.

Tijd beweegt in een cirkel. Getallen bewegen in patronen. En misschien zien we die patronen iedere dag, zonder ons ooit af te vragen wat er werkelijk achter zit.

Was Tesla simpelweg gefascineerd door wiskundige patronen?

Of zag hij iets in deze getallen wat wij nog steeds niet volledig begrijpen?
